DIESEL & AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN

Department: Maintenance   
Job Status: Full Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To:  Jake Butler
Grade/Level: $25.00 - $30.00 per hr. / D.O.E.
Amount of Travel Required: Test Drives
Positions Supervised: None 

Work Schedule            
Monday through Friday and some Saturdays 7:00am to 5:30pm but hours will vary depending on workload.

Elite Surface Infrastructure Overview
Elite Surface Infrastructure (ESI) is a growing company located in Englewood Colorado and has been working along the Colorado front range since 1998. ESI is one of the largest construction companies in Colorado that self-performs a variety of services including Underground Utilities, Milling, Asphalt, Paving, Grading, Concrete, and Earthwork for Infrastructure and Infrastructure Improvement Projects in the commercial, municipal, and federal sectors.

POSITION SUMMARY
Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul vehicles and machinery, such as Ford F-series vehicles, trailers, small tools, Peterbilt trucks, and other heavy equipment in the shop. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Record details of repairs made, and parts used. 
Reassemble vehicles and equipment following repair, testing operation, and making adjustments as necessary. 
Maintain, repair, and overhaul heavy machinery and vehicles, such as pickup trucks, semi-tractors, dirt loaders, small tools, and trailers. 
Examine and listen to vehicles, read inspection reports, and confer with operators to locate and diagnose malfunctions. 
Dismantle defective vehicles for repair, using personal hand tools. 
Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools. 
Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, welding equipment, grinders, or saws. 
Clean and lubricate parts. 
Tune or overhaul engines. 
Fabricate new metal parts, using plasma cutter, welder, and other general shop tools. 
Use an android tablet and or laptop to make a record of repairs made, labor time, and parts used. 
Diagnose, repair, or replace vehicle systems and or components.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
 
Education:
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) or Work Equivalent, Field of Study: Diesel Mechanics (not required)
 
Experience:
5 plus years of experience in heavy equipment repair.
 
Computer Skills: Must be familiar with Microsoft office, scheduling software and standard functions of transferring, saving and imputing of data on a computer. Must be able to operate an android smart phone or tablet.
 
 
 
Certifications &
Licenses:
Certificate related to diesel mechanical repair or 5 years of verifiable job experience. 
 
 
Other Requirements: Clean Driving record and the ability to pass a background investigation, and drug screening.
