  • Our new Crisis Services program provide patients and families with timely, effective care during a mental health crisis by initiating care in our EDs for patients who are currently experiencing a menta health crisis, developing a new unit for patients not yet safe to go home, who would benefit from a family-centered, acute crisis intervention, and establish a crisis clinic to provide rapid access to ambulatory treatment.
  • Our new Traverse Academy, a school-based intensive mental health treatment program, within the Cheery Creek School District is slated to open in Fall of 2023. It is an integrated school and intensive outpatient treatment center, including specialized transition programming, for students with significant and impairing emotional and/or behavioral disorders. The program is part of an effort to reduce risk for self-injurious behavior and suicide through collaborative school-academic partnerships and facilitate a smooth transition from intensive treatment to the student's home school.

Job Summary:

The School of Medicine/Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a Full-Time Behavioral Health Clinician.

This position is responsible for direct patient care and safety including diagnostic, assessment, treatment, and discharge planning for children, adolescents, and their families in Outpatient clinics at the Anschutz Medical Campus and/or at one of the Children's Hospital of Colorado Networks of Care. Although there may be opportunities to engage in training, supervision, and/or scholarship, this role is considered a Clinical Only position.

Please note, that this is an open-rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below.

Along with open rank, there may be an opportunity to work in additional clinical and/or research settings based on skillset and program needs. Additional clinics in this Division include Outpatient Clinics at the Anschutz Medical Campus and/or at one of the Children's Hospital Networks of Care.

Professional Field - Mental Health Counseling

Examples of Work Performed:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides direct patient care to children, adolescents, and their families, including completing diagnostic evaluations, as well as providing evidence-based individual, family, and group therapy.
  • Develops and implements evidence-based treatment plans and engages in ongoing treatment monitoring
  • Collaborates with internal and external providers involved in a patient's care as needed to coordinate the treatment plan and progress
  • Maintains timely communication with team members, supervisor, and divisional leadership.
  • Attends team meetings, educational in-services, and committees/workgroups as indicated
  • Enter appropriate notes and charge captures that comply with state and federal standards in the medical record for all patients seen.
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision Received - The Child/Adolescent Behavioral Health Clinician ultimately reports to the Clinical Director, Anschutz Campus, Pediatric Mental Health Institute, Jessica Hawks, PsyD.

Supervision Exercised - The Behavioral Health Clinician will not supervise other employees. The Child/Adolescent Behavioral Health Clinician may have opportunities to engage in mentorship, training, and/or supervision

Minimum Qualifications:

The ranks are based on how many years a candidate has been licensed and if they want to pursue the promotions track.

Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field
  • Minimum degree qualifications: LPC or LCSW or LMFT

Senior Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field
  • Minimum degree qualifications: LPC or LCSW or LMFT

Assistant Professor:

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field
  • Minimum degree qualifications: LPC or LCSW or LMFT

Associate Professor:

  • 4-7 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field
  • Minimum degree qualifications: LPC or LCSW or LMFT

Professor:

  • 7+ years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field
  • Minimum degree qualifications: LPC, LCSW, or LMFT
  • Applicable for all ranks: Licensure in LPC, LCSW, or LMFT required

Preferred Qualifications (applicable for all ranks)

  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience after completion of training in child and adolescent clinical work.
  • Experience providing evidence-based treatment interventions to children and adolescents

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • To be successful in this position, candidates will need the following:

  • Clinical skills in evidence-based assessment and treatment in an outpatient mental health setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of patients, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, and handle a fast-paced environment.
  • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized work environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clinical faculty and staff in psychiatry.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $68,000 to $80,000.

Senior Instructor: $68,000 to $80,000

Assistant Professor: $68,000 to $80,000

Associate Professor: $68,000 to $80,000

Professor: $68,000 to $80,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
