Job Description
Summit Bodyworks is looking for a production drafter who will be responsible for the Design of custom vehicles to meet customer expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Define component specifications for vehicle bodies, HVAC, lighting, and cabinetry.
  • Work with purchasing and production to assist with material sourcing.
  • Produce vehicle drawings in Solidworks ensuring all customer specifications are met.
  • Define detailed design drawings to support: sheet metal cutting, fabrication, woodshop, assembly.
  • Create bills of material, maintain revision control, process engineering change orders.
  • Resolve manufacturing shop floor questions and issues as required.
  • Design for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Support cost reduction effort through lean activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate by providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
  • Ability to receive and analyze data and input into the computer.
  • Normal range of hearing and vision.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License and MVR in good standing.
  • BSME or equivalent experience
  • CAD experience preferred
  • Design/Build experience in an automotive environment or related field
  • Solidworks experience
  • Bill of materials creation experience
  • ERP Experience
  • Cabinet-woodworking design and manufacturing
  • Cost improvement project experience
  • Automotive knowledge and/or experience a plus!
  • Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
